Don has tried to make the boys promise to stay two years old forever. Obviously, this is not working. Our babies are growing up faster than we can clean up one of their messes. In an effort to spend quality time loving them and intentionally “raising them up right,” Don has started having daddy outings with the boys. Well, he’s started it with Justice and trying to find 1-2 hour activities he and Eli can enjoy together. Abbi is going to have to wait for some alone time with daddy… she currently refuses the bottle which means she stays with me all the time

Since J LOVES building things, Don has been taking him to Lowes and Home Depot for the free kid workshops. Eli loves animals so Don will likely take him to a local farm or petting zoo when the weather cools off a bit. Eli also likes planes and helicopters more than J, so Don might take him to the Air Force museum or local airport to check them out. We’re open to ideas for Eli activities if you have any to share!

I think it’s great for the kids to get some alone time with daddy and we’ll likely add mommy day outings in the future. For now they get enough alone time with me throughout the week since their nap schedules are a bit staggered. J and I are doing an hour of preschool together each day which has provided some fun quality time for us. I also try to give the boys a chance to run errands with me alone. It is amazing how different the dynamics change between us and our kids when one or two of them is taken out of the mix… it’s a nice change, but my favorite dynamic is when the five of us are eating dinner together or having Family Night.

In case you’re wondering what’s going on in this crazy head of mine at any given moment, here it is:

Wow. I’m hungry but my acid reflux… probably shouldn’t eat much. I wonder if Baby Girl will come today… oh the pain… I can’t think about it. It’s nothing like what Jesus had to go through, I should suck it up and stop sinning by worrying. I suck.

Hmmm… I still need to return those curtains to amazon and sell this, this, and that. Oh and either have that yard sale (darn weekend rain forecast) or donate it. I need my garage cleared of all that junk so I can spray paint the front porch table black. Oh I need to get the carseats installed still and pick up that changing table. I wonder if this will get done before baby girl arrives.

Oh no Eli is still struggling with his pooh issues… when will he get better?

Okay, so now the garden is “planted” but will it grow? Will the wild squirrels and neighbors’ dogs attack it? Is that compost mound actually working or are we creating a health hazard? Gosh, there are a lot of weeds in my yard… those poor people that sold us this house had no idea we would ruin their landscaping so quickly.

Gosh, I’m tired but Justice still won’t nap. I need to do some laundry and clean out the interior of the car anyway. And the floors… need scrubbed and vacuumed again… and spot cleaned… along with the coffee stain from two days ago that I have let sit and stink in the couch.

Lord, please oh please give me strength. I acknowledge I am living the high life… I can’t imagine what mothers in third world countries are thinking right now… gotta go to the well and get water… not, will we homeschool? Will we have more kids? Will we ever adopt? How will we afford this house and kids if I don’t go back to work in a few years? Kids are expensive. Will we ever afford to travel again?

UGH BRAIN! THIS IS WHY SLEEP ELUDES ME!

Yo. It’s around 3am and I can’t get that darn Matchbox 20 song out of my head: It’s 3am, I must be lonely. Well, I am not actually lonely at this hour (I’ve got a Womb Dweller giving the DWTS pros a run for their money). I am however, feeling looney. I am tired. Nausea is ruling my stomach while anxiety is ruling my brain. According to scripture, I am supposed to be anxious about nothing, but in everything be in prayer and petition. I tried that for a while this early morn. I tried praying. I prayed my house would miraculously clean itself since I have a new friend from church visiting tomorrow with her kids (a friend I have never met face to face). I prayed the destruction our plumbers left behind in the basement would experience a miraculous cleaning that included a ceiling replacement. I prayed our neighbor’s dog would stop pooping in our yard or that THEY would put in a fence so we don’t have to do it. I prayed for the health of Womb Dweller. I tried to be quiet and give the Lord a turn at the talking… didn’t happen. Instead I turned to facebook for 3 minutes (boring) and late night tv re-runs instead (super boring).

So, yes, the moral of this post is that my brain often times operates in a mind of its own. Yes, I am so NOT witty! It does not align with Holy Jill’s notion of proper pregnancy insomnia: prayer, reflection, revelation, peace, sleep. Please note that I use the term Holy Jill sarcastically. Now I must fight that inner guilt that says, wow you wasted even more time blogging that could’ve been used for something holy. Aye aye aye! Thank you Lord, for your grace and mercy. May I now turn my thoughts to your kingdom and trust that sleep will follow. Hmm… I no longer feel anxious… but still looney.

The official freezer cooking day for moneysavingmom.com and her blog friends is this Wednesday. I am starting early… and doing a few meals over the next few days. I started yesterday… making two extra quiches at dinner… and freezing them. Today I’m going to make my chicken dishes. These will include enchiladas, quesadillas, buffalo chicken pouches, pulled bbq chicken (for sandwiches), and… I think that’s it. If I get time and enough motivation, I might whip up some pizzas for freezing. I like pizza but it is so unhealthy… I look forward to making my own dough and adding my own ingredients. I have a long way to go in achieving completely healthy meals… but I’m working on it. Thankfully we live near a good Kroger that sells Amish chicken and grain fed beef along with tons of organic fruit and vegetables. The local farmer’s markets are gearing to open soon too, so this will help us get quality fruit for juicing. Our personal garden will only consist of vegetables and herbs. Anyway, that’s all for my cooking stream of consciousness… more to come Monday!
