Use Coupons, Give to the Needy

Proverbs 31: 20

Says an excellent wife “opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.”

Coupon use can help you open your hand to the poor. Seriously.  I am an amateur couponer.  I use some coupons every week to purchase some of my groceries and as a result, I save some money on my bill.  A few of my friends are what you call professional couponers (you know who you are).  They score tons and tons of food & products for dirt cheap, and often times for free.  Over the last 2-3 years I have learned how to score some freebies as well, mainly hygiene products, cleaning supplies and boxed food items.  I admit, our family does not use all of the freebie items we get (because we are very loyal to products once we fall in love with them and we try to avoid super duper processed foods).

However, I still stock up on the freebies and near freebies we don’t use so we can donate those items to people in need.  I encourage you to explore the use of coupons to purchase items for donation and to simply save money on your budget. You will be amazed at how much money you can free up  to use more generously (or to pay off debt, make ends meet, etc.).   Moneysavingmom taught me most of what I know about couponing and deal-seeking, so check out her site for tips and daily deals.

If you’re local and want some help matching up coupons and sales (the secret to scoring freebies), just give me a holler… especially if you want to use your coupon skills to help stock up our church food pantry!

Sunday’s coupon inserts can score you some freebies when Kroger or Meijer do their 10 for $10. Frank’s original hot sauce will double to $1 off and Secret & Speed sticks deodorants will do the same. We stock up on Frank’s for buffalo chicken dip :) We give away the Secret deodorant.
